Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement issued at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations regarding the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

Renting a vehicle requires:

• To hire a vehicle from Leyland, you must be at least 21 years old, although some vehicle categories may have different age requirements. A valid full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle type is necessary, held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. You will also need to present valid identification and proof of your current address. Additionally, valid payment information and a security deposit are required. Please check the Rental Agreement for any further requirements.

Booking and Payments

• Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Leyland office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.

Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

• At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the vehicle. Upon return, the vehicle should be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. The vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel as it had at pickup; otherwise, refueling fees will apply. If you anticipate returning the vehicle later than agreed, please notify us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur extra charges. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, along with a processing fee.

Insurance and Liability Terms

• All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial liability; reviewing these options is advisable. You will remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you obtain extra coverage. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of any insurance.

6. Modifications and Cancellations

Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise details, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur charges.

7. Restricted Activities

Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle

• Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky endeavors is not allowed. Transporting hazardous substances, sub-letting to others, or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle should not be used for purposes outside its design, nor should passenger or weight limits be exceeded. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.

Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.

8. Liability Limitations

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Leyland Car Hire accepts no responsibility for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim will be limited to the rental cost paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent activities.

9. Applicable Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.

Updates to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
